Free Consultation: Let’s Meet

Once you book your free consultation, we talk for 20-30 minutes. You get to meet your therapist, and they get to know what you’re concerned about and what you hope to achieve. We can answer your questions, and mutually decide if you’re a good fit for our therapy. We know you may want to shop around, so we’ll follow up in a week if you don’t make an immediate decision.

Intake: Getting to Know You

Your first full 60 minute session is more like an interview. We want to understand your personal and medical history, experiences, relationships, and challenges. Hearing your story is the first step to building a relationship based on trust and connection. Together, we’ll come up with some initial therapy goals.

Online Sessions: Working With You

We start with weekly, secure video therapy sessions as a stepping stone to living the life you want. We can adjust the frequency of your sessions, and your overall therapy plan, as you progress using the skills and strategies we’ve been working on together. As you meet your goals, we can decrease to bi-weekly, or even monthly sessions. We understand life happens, and we’re flexible and accommodating to your schedule.

Progress Tracking: Informal Followups

We don't rely on any formal tools or questionnaires to track your progress. Session-to-session, we follow up on your short-term goals, and encourage you to implement whatever skills we’ve been developing together. We’re always able to adjust your plan and goals as needed throughout the process.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started is simple. Schedule your first online counseling appointment using our secure booking form, and we’ll reach out with details for connecting to your virtual session.

Online therapy can address many mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, postpartum changes, stress, trauma, grief, and relationship issues.

Yes. Research shows that online therapy provides results comparable to in-person sessions. Many patients even prefer it for the comfort and accessibility of connecting from home.

Like most providers in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and the Washington, DC metropolitan area, we are fee-for-service and out-of-network providers. Fees are commensurate with training, years of experience, and other therapists in the area. Fees range from $100-$275 and payment is due at the end of each session.

We’ve chosen to work outside of insurance networks so your care is guided by you and your therapist, not by session limits or utilization reviews. By paying out-of-pocket, you also enjoy the benefit of total privacy, as we don’t need to share any details with an insurance provider. Note that if you have out-of-network benefits, many plans reimburse a portion of each session’s cost, and we provide the superbills you need to submit claims.

The No Surprise Act is a federal law that is intended to restrict surprise medical billing. Because we do not accept insurance, we will provide you with a good faith estimate of anticipated expenses related to your care.

We strive to provide exceptional care while respecting the time of both our clients and therapists. If you would like to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide 24 hours’ notice. You can contact your therapist directly, call us, or log into your Jane account. Appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, will be subject to the full session fee. We understand that life can throw curveballs, and we’re willing to review individual cases where the fee might be waived.

If you have out-of-network benefits through your insurance, a portion of your therapy cost will be covered once your deductible is met. Most clients are reimbursed at 50-80% of fees. Following sessions, we provide you with all necessary information so you may submit a claim to your insurance. Once your deductible is met and you have submitted the claim, insurance will send a check directly to you.

Here are some questions to ask your insurance to gain clarity about your benefits and reimbursement process:

  1. Do I have out-of-network benefits? If yes, what is my deductible and have I reached my deductible?
  2. What is my coinsurance or copayment once the deductible is met?
  3. Are the following CPT codes covered: 90791 (Intake Interview) and 90837 (Individual Therapy)?
  4. What is the process of submitting for out-of-network reimbursement?

We believe everyone could be in therapy for the rest of their lives, but that doesn’t mean everyone needs it. If you feel that we’ve met your personal therapeutic goals, and you’ve learned how to cope and manage in a healthy way, it may be time to stop.
